چکیده

Natasha Raikhel received her MS in Biology from Leningrad State University in 1970 and PhD in Cell Biology from Institute of Cytology, Academy of Science, Leningrad, USSR in 1975. From there, she moved to the Department of Zoology, University of Georgia in Athens, to continue her studies on ciliates, a unicellular organism. Then, she moved to the Department of Botany at the University of Georgia and switched her field of study to plants. In 1986, she moved to the MSU-DOE Plant Research lab in East Lansing, Michigan, and in 2001 she moved to the University of California, Riverside to become a founding director of the Center for Plant Cell Biology, and then a Director of the Institute for Integrative Genome Biology, where she is now University Distinguished Professor of plant cell biology. She was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2012.

Membrane trafficking in plants: new discoveries and approaches.

The general organization and function of the endomembrane system is highly conserved in eukaryotic cells. In addition, increasing numbers of studies demonstrate that normal plant growth and development are dependent on specialized tissue and subcellular-specific components of the plant membrane trafficking machinery. New approaches, including chemical genomics and proteomics, will likely accele...

Plant vacuole morphology and vacuolar trafficking

Plant vacuoles are essential organelles for plant growth and development, and have multiple functions. Vacuoles are highly dynamic and pleiomorphic, and their size varies depending on the cell type and growth conditions. Vacuoles compartmentalize different cellular components such as proteins, sugars, ions and other secondary metabolites and play critical roles in plants response to different b...
